Police: Drunk driver busted due to yelling passenger

PONTIAC, Mich., June 11 (UPI) -- Police in Michigan said they arrested an alleged drunk driver after his passenger shouted obscenities at a police officer.

Waterford Township police said they pulled over a vehicle early Saturday when a passenger was heard shouting obscenities at an officer conducting a traffic stop. Driver Benjamin Boston Jonas, 34, appeared to have been drinking, The Detroit News reported Tuesday.

Jonas was arrested on a third-offense felony charge of operating under the influence of alcohol.

The passenger in the vehicle, also a 34-year-old man, admitted to shouting obscenities at the officer. The passenger, whose name was not released, was cited for disorderly conduct and released.
