Cousins market frozen pickle juice as Bobs Pickle Pops

SEGUIN, Calif., June 11 (UPI) -- A California man and his cousin in Texas said they have a hit product with Bobs Pickle Pops, pickle juice frozen into a popsicle.

David Millar of California said he cousin, John Howard, owns a skating rink in Texas where pickle juice -- a traditional hangover cure in Russia -- is offered to visitors as a beverage, RIA Novosti reported Tuesday.

"One time, in 2007, when I went to visit, John handed me a pickle popsicle, which was frozen pickle juice, and I thought, wow, we could be onto something," Millar said.

The pair said they initially packaged the pops themselves in 2007 before teaming with a specialty food packaging company to boost production. They said their big break came in 2011, when Walmart started selling the pops at 900 stores.

The cousins said they do not plan to extend into the Russian market due to the cost of shipping the product overseas.
