Russian woman turns 112

YAKUTSK, Russia, June 6 (UPI) -- The granddaughter of a 112-year-old Russian woman credits her relative's long life to healthy living and a kind heart.

Martha Sivtseva, who turned 112 Thursday, was hailed by local officials in Yakutina as the oldest living woman in the republic, and her granddaughter, Albina, said the woman remained active well into her 100s, RIA Novosti reported Thursday.

Albina said her grandmother's longevity may be due to the fact that she subsides on natural products, lives a healthy lifestyle and is "kindhearted" to those around her.

Sivtseva's health has deteriorated during the past year, but she still listens attentively and understands her relatives, Albina said.
