CORAL SPRINGS, Fla., May 31 (UPI) -- A Florida woman who invented the horse-inspired exercise known as "Prancercise" has become a YouTube celebrity since posting a video of the routine.

Joanna Rohrback, 60, of Coral Springs said she came up with the exercise in 1989 when she found herself practicing "a springy, rhythmic way of moving forward, similar to a horse's gait," the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported Friday.

Rohrback said she copyrighted the word "Prancercise" and authored an unpublished book, "Prancercise: The Art of Physical and Spiritual Excellence," in 1994.

However, she said she fell out of practice when a nine-year illness stopped her from exercising.

Rohrback said she started Prancercising again last year, self-published her book and posted videos of her routine on YouTube.

"It was on the shelf for so many years, and it was on the top of my bucket list, and I thought it was time," Rohrback said. "What did I have to lose?"

The videos languished in obscurity for a few months until they received links this week from some popular websites and amassed more than 2 million views by Friday afternoon.

"I never dreamt it would take off like this," Rohrback said. "It's my dream come true."
