AKRON, Ohio, May 21 (UPI) -- Police in Ohio allege a man committed more than 20 break-ins while out on parole and wearing an ankle monitor.

Akron police said James Kilmire, 37, was wearing the ankle monitor Friday when he was arrested in the parking lot of a Walmart store in Akron and he was also wearing the monitor when he allegedly perpetrated multiple break-ins last week, WEWS-TV, Cleveland, reported Tuesday.

Akron police Lt. Rick Edwards said Kilmire allegedly conducted more than 20 break-ins in multiple jurisdictions while wearing the monitor, which was placed on his ankle when he was released on bond April 11 following an April 3 breaking and entering arrest.

"This rises to the level of not the most brilliant person," Edwards said.

Kilmire was taken to the Summit County Jail and is due back in court June 5.
