Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe NORWICH, England, May 16 (UPI) -- Police in Britain were called to break up a disagreement between sci-fi convention attendees dressed as "Star Wars" and "Doctor Who" characters. The 4th Norwich Sci-Fi and Film Convention, organized Sunday by the Norwich (England) Star Wars Club, ended up with Norwich police in uniform weaving through colorfully costumed attendees when club president Richard Walker, 63, asked treasurer Jim Poole, 44, and his three friends to leave, The Sun reported Thursday. Advertisement "I asked what he was doing there. I told him I wanted him to go as he'd caused enough trouble in the past. But he refused to leave," Walker said. "It was more or less an argument. It was wrong for him to come in and cause a scene. There has been a long-running saga." Poole called police, alleging Walker had manhandled and threatened him, but officers reviewed CCTV footage and asked Poole and his friends to leave. Police said the participants in the incident were dressed as a "Star Wars" Sith Lord, comic book and movie character "Judge Dredd" and two incarnations of the Doctor from "Doctor Who." "I was put in a police car. We were both interviewed by the police and told to stay away from each other," Poole said. Advertisement He said the incident was not as exciting as it might sound to some. "This wasn't a fight between 'Star Wars' fans and 'Doctor Who' fans with lightsabers and sonic screwdrivers drawn -- it's a bit sad and pathetic," he said.
