WEST NEWTON, Pa., May 14 (UPI) -- A Pennsylvania fire chief was criticized by officials for having a fire truck deliver his son to his high school prom.

The West Newton Borough Council voted unanimously Monday to send a letter to the borough fire department expressing "displeasure" with Chief Craig Sanner's decision to have a fire truck act "as a prom limousine" and deliver his son, Dustin, to the April 26 Yough High School prom, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported Tuesday.

"If true, we feel this is an inappropriate use of public monies," the council's resolution said.

Sanner said the fire truck was never "out of service" while giving a ride to his son and the boy's date. He said the truck did not leave the area where it responds to calls.
