[VIDEO] Singing passenger booted from American Airlines plane

KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 13 (UPI) -- American Airlines said a flight from Los Angeles to New York was diverted to Missouri when a passenger wouldn't stop singing Whitney Houston songs.

The flight, which left Los Angeles at 3:30 p.m. Thursday for John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, made an unscheduled stop at Kansas City International Airport at 6:06 p.m. so the woman, whose name was not released, could be removed, KCTV, Kansas City, reported Monday.

The woman, whose performance was captured on video by a fellow passenger, was being disruptive by refusing to stop loudly singing Whitney Houston songs.

"The woman was being disruptive and was removed from the plane for interfering with the flight crew," airport spokesman Joe McBride said Friday. "There was a federal air marshal on the aircraft, who subdued the woman and put her in cuffs and removed her from the plane."

The woman sung "I will always love you," a Dolly Parton-penned song with a famous cover by Houston, as she was being removed from the plane.

The aircraft left KCI and continued on its way at 7:11 p.m.
