SATELLITE BEACH, Fla., May 6 (UPI) -- A man suspected of robbing a Florida credit union was trying to follow through on a promise to take his girlfriend and her kids on a Disney cruise, police said.

Cmdr. Brad Hodge of the Satellite Beach Police Department said Cedrick Royce Swinson, 37, his girlfriend and her two children traveled from Charlotte, N.C., to Satellite Beach for the cruise and Swinson soon discovered the cash he needed to make his final payment for the tickets was not available for withdrawal, Florida Today reported Monday.

He claimed he had money in the bank but that he couldn't get access to it or that they had a hold on it," Hodge said. "He said he felt pressured to follow through with his promise to take [the girlfriend and her two children] on a Disney cruise and decided to rob the credit union."

Police said Swinson robbed the Navy Federal Credit Union in the Atlantic Shopping Plaza around 10:40 a.m. Thursday while his girlfriend and the kids, ages 6 and 11, waited outside in a white sport-utility vehicle.

He put his hand into his sweatjacket pocket as if to indicate that he had a weapon," Holdge said.

The vehicle was pulled over about five minutes later and Swinson was arrested.

WKMG-TV, Orlando, Fla., reported the girlfriend did not appear to have knowledge of the robbery.

"She was horrified and the children were upset. They drove here overnight from Charlotte for a cruise. They didn't know he was going to do this," Hodge said.
