Moscow Deputy Mayor Pyotr Biryukov said 1.4 million city residents braved some terrible weather to pick up litter and beautify city streets, parks and public squares. Advertisement The so-called subbotnik, Russian for "Saturday cleanup," stretches back to the Soviet era, RIA Novosti said.
