Subscribe | UPI Odd Newsletter Subscribe PITTSBURGH, April 24 (UPI) -- A lawsuit filed by four Pittsburgh firefighters alleges they suffered permanent hearing loss due to the volume of truck sirens. Ralph Bilski, Jeremiah Dengler and Roger Maher III, who have been Pittsburgh firefighters since at least 1981, and Mark Godlewski, who joined the department in 2000, filed a lawsuit against several manufacturers alleging the sirens caused irreversible hearing damage, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Wednesday. Advertisement The lawsuit names American Lafrance, E-One Inc., Kovatch Mobile Equipment Corp., Mack Trucks Inc., Pierce Manufacturing Inc., Seagrave Fire Apparatus and Federal Signal Corp. as defendants. The firefighters allege the department's trucks lacked sufficient insulation to protect their hearing and the manufacturers of the sirens and the trucks failed to provide warnings about potential hearing damage. The city of Pittsburgh isn't named in the lawsuit.
