Unique cut of 'ForeverAfter' diamond leads to owner

OKLAHOMA CITY, April 17 (UPI) -- An Oklahoma woman said the unique cut of a "ForeverAfter" diamond she found in a parking lot helped her track it back to its owner.

Marilyn Henderson of Edmond said she lost the $2,000, half-carat diamond when her bracelet broke during a lunch trip with friends at Cafe 7 in Oklahoma City Feb. 13. She and her friends were unable to locate the missing jewel, which was a Christmas gift from her husband, The Oklahoman, Oklahoma City, reported Wednesday.

The diamond was discovered two days later by Shannon Skaley of Piedmont, who said it was lodged in a crack in the parking lot at Cafe 7.

Skaley said she took the diamond to Kelley Jewelers in Weatherford a few weeks later to test its authenticity and was shocked to discover it was an actual diamond.

Gemologist Laurin Townsend discovered the diamond was a unique cut bearing the "ForeverAfter" brand, sold exclusively Mitchener-Farrand Jewelers in Oklahoma City.

"I came out to the front and told Shannon that it was real, and that we could probably find the owner. Was she interested?" Townsend said. "She said 'Absolutely. That's awesome -- let's find her.'"

The women got in touch with a grateful Henderson, who made plans to receive the diamond Wednesday from Skaley.

"My husband probably will make me wear it only in the house," Henderson said.
