NEWARK, Del., March 5 (UPI) -- A University of Delaware student said an ATM spitting out $1,800 when he requested $40 "was the craziest thing that ever happened to me."

Devon Gluck, 21, said he requested $40 from the PNC Bank ATM Feb. 1 at Trabant University Center at the University of Delaware and was shocked when the machine spit out $1,800, ABC News reported Tuesday.

"It was such a wild thing," Gluck said. "It was the craziest thing that has happened to me. I had no idea how to react."

Gluck said he called his father the following day to ensure returning the money would be the right thing.

"I called him just to get that reassurance because he's been a big influence on my life," Gluck said.

Gluck said he went to the bank 10 days after receiving the cash and returned the money to the branch manager.

"I had to sit on it and compose myself before I walked in with it," Gluck said of the elapsed time between getting the money and returning it.

PNC Bank spokeswoman Marcey Zwiebel said the cash came from another student's account and has been returned to its rightful owner.
