Dance marathon raises $489k

SOUTH GLEN FALLS, N.Y., March 4 (UPI) -- A dance marathon at a high school in South Glens Falls, N.Y., raised $489,716.27 for charity, the largest total in the event's 36-year history.

South Glens Falls High School said the students started dancing at 7 p.m. Friday and kept grooving until 7 p.m. Saturday to raise funds for 40 charities including Rebuilding Together, Ronald McDonald House and Wilton Food Pantry, The Saratogian, Saratoga Springs, N.Y., reported Monday.

The Glen Falls (N.Y.) Post-Star reported the event has raised a total $3.5 million over 36 years.
