Game show winner accused of benefits fraud

STOKE-ON-TRENT, England, Feb. 8 (UPI) -- British authorities are charging a "Deal or No Deal" game show winner with benefits fraud for allegedly neglecting to inform officials of her winnings.

The Stoke-on-Trent City Council charged Caroline Banana, 40, with benefits fraud for allegedly failing to notify the Department of Work and Pensions when she won $150,223 on the Channel 4 game show in November 2011, The Daily Telegraph reported Friday.

Investigators allege Banana was overpaid $7,906 in benefits after her win.

Banana, who was born in Zimbabwe, is due in court Feb. 20.
