Boy born in Manila-bound flight

KOLKATA, India, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- An Emirates Air Line flight bound for Manila made an emergency landing in India Thursday after a passenger gave birth to a boy while aloft, officials said.

Airport officials said the plane, which took off from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, made the unscheduled stop at NSC Bose International Airport in Kolkata, formerly Calcutta, when passenger Camejina Sokunivaa, 30, gave birth while in flight, the Press Trust of India reported.

Officials at a hospital in Kolkata, where the woman and newborn were taken, said they were both doing well. The woman's husband in Manila has been informed of the birth, the officials said.
