Megan Hanrahan, animal inspector for the city of Brockton, said the city Board of Health ordered Anthony Ruiz to find a new home for Porkchop, the potbellied pig, after animal control officers were called to deal with the animal at least 15 times when it was running loose on the streets, The Boston Globe reported Thursday. Advertisement Ruiz said he was preparing to transport Porkchop to its new home Friday, the deadline set by the city, when officers confiscated the animal and placed it in a kennel. City officials filed a request in Brockton Housing Court to keep Porkshop at the kennel until the animal can be placed in a new home. Ruiz said he hopes city officials will return the pig to him so he can place him it the new home he found.
