PITEA, Sweden, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Police in Sweden said a fat cat was taken into custody after it was caught stealing food from a home.

Investigators said a Pitea family put out a trap to catch the cat, which they said had been trespassing in their home, stealing food and acting aggressively toward their own pets, and they turned the feline over to officers once it was ensnared, Swedish news agency TT reported Wednesday.

"It is a fat, well-groomed and well-cared for cat -- it's no stray cat," Erik Kummu of the Norrbotten police told the Aftonbladet newspaper.

Police said the cat, named Oscar, was claimed by its owner Sunday night. The owner declined to comment.
