Shasta County Superior Court Judge Anthony Anderson ordered William Oller Sr., 70, to stand trial on attempted murder and assault charges during his preliminary hearing Tuesday, The Record Searchlight, Reading, reported Thursday. Advertisement Investigators said the two men argued Jan. 20 at the younger man's Shingletown home because the father did not approve of his son's karaoke singing. Oller Sr. allegedly retrieved a semiautomatic handgun from his pickup truck and shot his son in the arm during the struggle for the gun. Oller Sr. also suffered a gunshot wound to the leg during the struggle. The older man, who remains jailed in lieu of $750,000 bond, is due back in court July 31.
