Police: Man attacked cyclist with sausages

BROCKTON, Mass., June 18 (UPI) -- Police in Massachusetts said a man accused of stealing meat, cheese and bread from a fairgrounds stand allegedly attacked a cyclist with the sausages.

Brockton police said Michael Baker allegedly broke into the sausage stand at the Brockton Fairgrounds early Sunday and attacked a cyclist about 8 a.m. with the sausage links, The Enterprise, Brockton, reported Monday.

The victim, who said he did not know his attacker, said Baker threw the meat, cheese and bread into a nearby barrel and struck the man repeatedly with a wrench.

Baker fled with the man's silver chain, ring and bicycle, police said.

Police said Baker was later seen heading east on Neubert Street with the bike and he was arrested.

Baker, who police said was carrying a wrench with what appeared to be blood on it, was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, a wrench; armed robbery; disturbing the peace; disorderly conduct; and receiving stolen property under $250.
