John and Pat Buchholz of Greenacres said they had been battling for years with The Cloisters Property Owners Association over the plants they had growing up against a wooden fence in their back yard, The Palm Beach (Fla.) Post reported Monday.

Officials with The Cloisters, the senior community where the Buchholzes live, said the association owns the property 6 feet in from the fence and the couple were repeatedly warned before landscapers showed up at their house Tuesday.

Police said John Buchholz stood in the landscapers' way and refused to move, even when police arrived.

Buchholz was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest without violence.

Police said Buchholz grew tired, complained of heat in the back seat of a police car and was taken to Wellington Regional Medical Center, where he spent the night and tests were performed.
