Trash workers find missing rings

ATTLEBORO, Mass., May 16 (UPI) -- A Massachusetts woman says she is grateful to waste management workers for finding the five rings she lost in the trash before they ended up in an incinerator.

Deb Kirby of Attleboro said she lost the rings -- her wedding ring, engagement ring, a ring her dad gave her and two costume jewelry pieces -- while preparing for work at Bristol County Savings Bank May 8 and she realized later in the day that she had accidentally thrown them away with some paper towels, The (Attleboro) Sun Chronicle reported Wednesday.

Kirby said her husband, Brad, recommended she call the Waste Management company and officials were quickly able to locate the truck that had picked up her neighborhood's trash and turn it around on its way to the incinerator.

The truck was dumped out at 7:30 a.m. last Wednesday and workers searched for about a half hour until they found the missing rings.

"I'm so extremely grateful and so very impressed," Kirby said. "One of my worst days became one of the best."
