Expert: Bogus tix may not have been cops'

CHICAGO, May 2 (UPI) -- A handwriting expert said two Chicago police officers accused of writing seven bogus tickets may not have been behind the false citations.

The Chicago Police Board hearing on the proposed dismissal of Officers Horst Hegewald and Paul Roque ended Tuesday after testimony from Ellen Mulcrone Schuetzner, a forensic document examiner hired by lawyer Dan Herbert on behalf of the officers, the Chicago Tribune reported Wednesday.

Schuetzner testified that it is "more probable than not" that someone else was behind the writing of the seven bogus tickets left on resident Mark Geinosky's car.

"I found that there were indications they may not have been written by the known authors," she said.

Geinosky, who received a total 24 bogus tickets between 2007 and 2008, said he believed he was being harassed by the police due to issues connected to his contentious divorce proceedings.

Transcripts and video from the hearing will now be reviewed by the Chicago Police Board before issuing a ruling.
