OLOFSTROM, Sweden, April 26 (UPI) -- Swedish authorities said a man pleaded guilty to drunkenly stealing a brewery truck full of empty bottles and leaving a trail of broken glass behind him.

Police said the man, whose name was not released, was drunk in September when he drove off with the truck, which was being loaded with empty bottles outside a state-run Systembolaget liquor store in Olofstrom, The Local reported Thursday.

The truck driver, who was loading the back at the time, managed to jump from the vehicle when it began rolling away.

Police said the bottles that fell from the back of the truck and broke on the road punctured the tires of several cars before police caught up with the thief.

The man, whose blood-alcohol content was measured at far above the legal limit for driving, pleaded guilty this week to grand theft auto, reckless driving, illegal driving and aggravated drunken driving, authorities said.
