RIEBNES, Sweden, April 16 (UPI) -- A Swedish man said he drove more than 125 miles through freezing temperatures before discovering his cat had stowed away on his open trailer.

Fredrik Ohgren said he was headed to his family's vacation cottage in Riebnes and drove about 136 miles before stopping the car to let his dogs run around, The Local reported Monday.

"Then, I stepped out and heard a weak meowing from the trailer," Ohgren told the Pitea Tidning newspaper.

Ohgren said he discovered his pet cat, Klas, had stowed away on the trailer despite his usual fear of cars. He said the feline seemed weak from clinging to the trailer through freezing weather.

"He was very weak. I had to cook plenty of trout for him and got him to eat dog biscuits until my wife came up on Tuesday with real cat food," Ohgren said.

Ohgren said he will remember to triple-check the trailer before any future road trips.

"But I think he'll keep himself away. It's unpleasant. A few of his nine lives have disappeared already," he said.
