Japanese man, 97, charged in sword attack

KANAZAWA, Japan, April 3 (UPI) -- A 97-year-old Japanese man was arrested Tuesday after allegedly using his walker to get to a relative's nearby home to attack her with a sword, police said.

Police in Kanazawa allege Koshio Kawamura made his way about 100 yards to the 84-year-old woman's home and used a sword with a 20-inch blade to slash her left hand, The Yomiuri Shimbun reported.


Police said Kawamura vowed to the relative, "I'll kill you."

There was no word on how Kawamura was related to his alleged victim.
