The Florida Highway Patrol said a Charlotte County fire truck was responding to a call Monday afternoon in Punta Gorda when one of its hoses came loose and flailed about, striking nine mailboxes and sending one of them on a collision course with a man standing in his yard, the Fort Myers News-Press reported Tuesday.
