CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Feb. 26 (UPI) -- Ben & Jerry's made an ethnic faux pas with its limited-edition Jeremy Lin-inspired frozen yogurt at its Harvard Square shop in Cambridge, Mass.

The flavor the ice cream company created for Lin, a Harvard graduate and a rookie sensation for the New York Knicks, dubbed "Taste the Lin-Sanity," featured fortune cookie pieces, which were quickly replaced by waffle pieces, The Boston Globe reported.

"There seemed to be a bit of an initial backlash about it, but we obviously weren't looking to offend anybody and the majority of the feedback about it has been positive," Ryan Midden, Ben & Jerry's general manager for Boston and Cambridge, said Friday.

Another problem, he said, was the fortune cookies got soggy too quickly.

The Harvard Square store will continue to sell the flavor through the end of Harvard's basketball season, Midden said.

"We are very excited to celebrate the Harvard basketball program, as well as a local celebrity with our limited-time batch,'' Midden said.
