LA GRANGE, Ill., Feb. 10 (UPI) -- The owners of a boutique in a Chicago suburb said they are being forced to close down due to odors from the barbecue restaurant next door.

Honor Lorenzini and Mary Kral, owners of the Urban Sole boutique in La Grange, said they are shutting down the shop, which sells shoes, clothes and accessories, due to the constant odors from the Q BBQ restaurant next door, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Friday.

"Everything smells like smoke or barbecue. We can't dry clean clothes before we sell them," Lorenzini said.

She said some customers have even returned items as a result of the odor.

Lorenzini said she and Kral spoke with the landlord and the restaurant owner, but they refused to do anything about the problem.

However, Q BBQ owner Michael LaPidus said his business is not to blame for the boutique's closing.

"We have gone above and beyond in putting in a $6,000 exhaust system that gets the smoke up into the air faster, and it's just unfortunate that they're closing," LaPidus said. "It's unfortunate they're going out of business, and they're desperate and trying to lay the blame on everyone else but themselves. I wish them well."
