Runners race to top of Empire State Building

NEW YORK, Feb. 9 (UPI) -- The top runner in the race to the top of New York's Empire State Building scaled the 86 stories in 10 minutes and 28 seconds, organizers said.

The race, organized by the New York Road Runners to raise funds for the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, said Thomas Dold of Germany had the best time among the men hustling to the top of the 1,576 stairs, WNYW-TV, New York, reported Thursday.

The top woman, Melissa Moon of New Zealand, finished in 12 minutes and 39 seconds, the New York Road Runners said.
