AUCKLAND, New Zealand, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- A local politician in the New Zealand capital area said a pair of brothers seeking to open a high-rise sex complex should try "downtown Wainuiomata."

Christopher Dempsey, a local board member in the Auckland suburb of Waitemata, said John and Mark Chow's plans for a high-rise complex in Auckland to include a Penthouse Club, hotel, bars, restaurants and offices is "appalling and smacks of downtown Wainuiomata," the Wellington Dominion Post reported Tuesday.

"I invite the Chow brothers to retire there. They are not welcome in this city," Dempsey said.

Wainuiomata Rugby Club president John Morrissey said he does not understand why Dempsey associated the sex club with his city. He said he is unaware of any sex industry presence in Wainuiomata.

"The only high-rise buildings are the ones on the hill. The highest building in this town would be the churches," Morrissey said.

"He is so ignorant, he doesn't know what he is talking about. Wainuiomata is a good place," he said. "Just go to South Auckland. He knows what the bloody place is like. We are nothing like that. He should get his facts right."
