PARIS, Jan. 5 (UPI) -- French fashion retailer La Redoute took cover after a photo of a naked man was published on its Web site.

The photo featured four children running on a beach and editors apparently failed to notice a naked, middle-aged man was wading in the water behind them, the British tabloid The Sun reported Tuesday.

The gaffe was spotted by Web site visitors, who went to Twitter with the news.

La Redoute quickly deleted the post.

"La Redoute apologizes for the photo published on its site and is taking steps to remove it. We have opted to delete all the posts including this picture," the company said. "We are aware that it may offend the sensibilities of surfers. We will strengthen the validation process of all brand communications so this cannot happen again in the future."

La Redoute is the largest mail order company in France, the newspaper said.
