New Haven police said they responded around 10 p.m. Saturday to an address where Darrel Johnson, 51, claimed to have been shot during a robbery attempt, WVIT, New Britain/Hartford/New Haven, Conn., reported Tuesday. Advertisement However, Johnson admitted during questioning he accidentally shot himself in the leg when the gun fell from his waistband while he was using the toilet and fired off a round when it hit the floor. Police said Johnson will face multiple charges related to being a felon in possession of a firearm.
