Survey: Bosses akin to holiday characters

CHICAGO, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- Chicago-based Web site CareerBuilder said its survey of workers found 19 percent compared their bosses to George Bailey from "It's a Wonderful Life."

The survey of 4,721 U.S. workers, carried out online Aug. 16-Nov. 8 by Harris Interactive on behalf of CareerBuilder, asked respondents to name the holiday movie characters that most resemble their bosses, and 19 percent picked George Bailey, citing the fact that he is "well-liked, always willing to help others."

The Web site said, 14 percent chose Rudolph from "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer," describing a boss who "can navigate successfully through tough situations," and 10 percent picked Willie from "Bad Santa," someone who is "rough around the edges but not a bad person deep down."

Meanwhile 8 percent said their boss "stays focused on one goal and thinks about nothing else," like Ralphie from "A Christmas Story," and 8 percent described their superior as "very resourceful and independent" like Kevin from "Home Alone."

The survey had a sampling error of 1.43 percentage points.
