COBB, Ga., Dec. 22 (UPI) -- A Georgia couple who could not make it to the hospital in time for their daughter's birth said the infant was born outside a fire station.

Elizabeth and Brett Young of Cobb said they loaded their two daughters into their car Wednesday morning and headed for Northside Hospital, but it quickly became apparent they would not make it in time for the baby to be born, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Thursday.

Brett Young said he called 911 and told the operator he would be bringing his wife to the nearest fire station, on Powers Ferry Road, and the baby was born almost as soon as they pulled up to the facility.

"She fell right into my hands," Brett Young said.

An ambulance took the mother and baby Fiona to Northside Hospital, where the infant weighed in at 4 pounds, 12 ounces.
