LAKELAND, Fla., Dec. 19 (UPI) -- Authorities say a Florida teacher who was upset with her order at a McDonald's threw the fast-food back at the open drive-through window, hitting an attendant.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office said Simone Paolercio, 39, was dissatisfied with her hash browns Saturday morning, when she had ordered $20 worth of food from the South Florida Avenue eatery in Lakeland, and argued with an attendant and the manager, the Orlando Sentinel reported Monday.

Paolercio threw food items into the window after being denied a refund. The attendant was struck in the face and chest. The teacher then put the rest of the food and drinks on the window sill, where they fell to the floor.

Deputies said Paolercio initially denied throwing the food but conceded she could not argue with security camera footage.

Paolercio, who teaches at Lakeland Highlands Middle School, was booked into the Polk County Jail on a battery charge.
