Police said about 100 pieces of fruit dropped from the sky in a few minutes in Keresley outside Coventry, the Daily Star reported. Britain has been hit by storms this week, and meteorologists said the apples were probably lying on the ground in an orchard when a freak wind picked them up and carried them to Keresley. Advertisement One woman who was traveling with her husband said apples came down hard on the hood of their car. "Everyone had to stop their cars suddenly," she told the Star. "I know the area well and there are no apple trees around." Britain has had previous experience with curious showers. Great Yarmouth, on the east coast in Norfolk, had a fall of fish in 2007, while frogs came down in 1996 in Llandewi in Wales.
