LOS ANGELES, Dec. 13 (UPI) -- A former Ohio couple who ended with comedian Nick Swardson's former phone number when they moved to Los Angeles said they used the number to get A-list invites.

Bob Gray and Liza Foster, who moved from Cleveland to Los Angeles last year, said they both got new numbers with the local 310 area code when they moved and Gray soon began receiving curious text messages, ABC's "Good Morning America" reported Tuesday.

"The very next day after I changed it, I get a text message saying, 'Hey, I saw your stuff on TMZ, what a bummer,'" Gray said. "I'm like, 'TMZ, whose phone did I get?'"

Gray said he soon received a text message invitation to Paris Hilton's 30th birthday party and asked to have their names put on the list so they could attend.

"Everybody there was in evening gowns … I showed up in jeans and sneakers," Foster said of Hilton's party.

The couple said they were finally able to identify the phone number's former owner when Gray received a phone call from Adam Sandler.

"I recognize his voice and I said, 'Is this Adam Sandler?' I told him what was going on, especially the Paris party, and he just thought it was hysterical," Gray said. "He said, 'I'm going to tell Nick you're saving all his messages.'"

Gray said he soon received a call from Swardson himself.

"We talked for a while and he gave me his office number and I was able to shoot over some important messages, like job offers for movies," he said. "You don't want to mess with anyone, but I will go to his parties."

The couple said they are working on a screenplay about their experiences on the advice of Sandler.
