NEW YORK, Dec. 12 (UPI) -- New York police said they rescued an Airedale terrier that plunged into the Hudson River while chasing a Frisbee thrown by its owner.

Police said Bodhi, a 2 1/2-year-old canine, was playing a game of catch Sunday with owner Scott Kariya when the dog chased the disc into the water and floated under the pier near W. 13th St. and West St., the New York Daily News reported Monday.

Officers Benjamin Reiver and Kevin Fedynak responded to the 911 call and arrived at the pier in a New York Police Department harbor boat. They used a canine noose to pull the dog to safety and brought it into the boat's warm cabin to prevent the Airedale from catching hypothermia.
