Manos Katsampoukas sent a polite e-mail to recruitment firms inquiring about finance or marketing jobs, and for some reason, Gary Chaplin, an executive in his 40s making more than $300,000 a year, took it upon himself to send back a scathing response for "all 4,000 people you have e-mailed," The Sun reported Saturday. On Friday, Chaplin said the e-mail "was a moment of idiocy." "I am now looking for a job just a few days before Christmas," he said. "If I could turn back the clock I would. I will regret this forever." "Gary went a bit overboard with what he said about me but I have thick skin," said Dan McCarthy, who was mentioned in Chaplin's e-mail. "I was more concerned with what he said about the job-seeker -- as I think this creates a terrible impression of our industry. I would like people to know that we are not all like Gary Chaplin."
