TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Dec. 8 (UPI) -- Aasif Mandvi of Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" brought a plastic cup to Florida Gov. Rick Scott's budget unveiling to ask him to take a drug test.

Mandvi made reference to Scott's desire to have all state employees and welfare applicants submit to drug testing and asked Scott during Wednesday's event to submit to a test on the spot because he is also using "hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars" to carry out his position, the South Florida Sun Sentinel reported Thursday.

The governor responded he had taken drug tests "plenty of times" and Mandvi attempted to have his plastic cup passed to the governor.

"I hate to keep harping on this, but would you pee into the cup?" Mandvi said.

The cup never made its way to Scott.

Scott has recently been defending a law requiring drug tests for state employees and his administration is appealing a federal judge's injunction against a law requiring welfare applicants to pass drug tests.
