Las Vegas Metro Police said the number of pedestrian-crossing citations handed out Tuesday was an increase of 15 over the amount handed out during last year's single-day Thanksgiving pedestrian awareness campaign, the Las Vegas Sun reported Wednesday. Advertisement Police said more costumed awareness events will be held during the upcoming holiday season. "We're probably going to do Santa Claus this year," said officer Michael Lamle, who donned the turkey suit to cross roads across the city Tuesday. Police said the costumed street crossings are designed to raise awareness of proper crosswalk safety procedures.
