AUBURN, Calif., Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Police in California said they were searching for a man accused of borrowing a woman's car and selling the vehicle on Craigslist.

Auburn police said Laurel Rudolph, 55, loaned her car Oct. 6 to an acquaintance named Jeff Keller or Kellar and she filed a stolen vehicle report when he failed to return the vehicle at the agreed-upon time, the Auburn Journal reported Friday.

The car was found Oct. 13 when the Craigslist buyer took it to the Roseville branch of the Department of Motor Vehicles to attempt to register it, the Sacramento Bee reported.

Investigators said the seller, who was identified as the same man who borrowed the car, may have been using a false name.
