CareerBuilder.com said the Harris Interactive online poll of 4,384 workers, conducted Aug. 16-Sept. 8, indicates people find bomb squad technician to be the scariest job in the country, followed by high-rise window washer, armed forces member, miner, police officer and Alaskan crab fisherman. Advertisement The survey suggests U.S. workers are also intimidated by the idea of being a mortician, firefighter, high school teacher, cemetery worker or exterminator. The poll found 36 percent of respondents found lay-offs to be the scariest aspect of their own jobs, followed by 13 percent who fear pay cuts and 9 percent who dread increases to their workload. The poll had an error rate of 1.48 percentage points, with a 95 percent certainty, CareerBuilder said.
