CHICAGO, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- A Chicago jobs Web site said its survey indicates bomb squad technician, high rise window washer and armed forces member are the scariest U.S. jobs.
CareerBuilder.com said the Harris Interactive online poll of 4,384 workers, conducted Aug. 16-Sept. 8, indicates people find bomb squad technician to be the scariest job in the country, followed by high-rise window washer, armed forces member, miner, police officer and Alaskan crab fisherman.
The survey suggests U.S. workers are also intimidated by the idea of being a mortician, firefighter, high school teacher, cemetery worker or exterminator.
The poll found 36 percent of respondents found lay-offs to be the scariest aspect of their own jobs, followed by 13 percent who fear pay cuts and 9 percent who dread increases to their workload.
The poll had an error rate of 1.48 percentage points, with a 95 percent certainty, CareerBuilder said.
