The pollsters said the results were consistent among all age groups, ages 18-55.
"We rely on it so often for information that Google has become the brainiest member of the family," said Reggie James, managing director of Digital Clarity. "Just count how many times you hear 'Google it' the next time you're having a family discussion and can't remember a fact.
"The biggest search users in the U.K. are the younger middle aged -- the generation of people who were in their 20s when the Web took off in the mid 1990s and have grown up with Google," James said.
