NEW YORK, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- A New York developer has released the "I'm Getting Arrested" Android app, which notifies friends, loved ones and lawyers of an arrest with a single button.

The app, which developer Quadrant 2 said was inspired by the arrest of an "Occupy Wall Street" protester, allows its user to pre-program a custom message to be sent out in the case of an arrest and choose who will receive the message, CNET.com reported Monday.

The messages are sent by holding a single button for two seconds, the developer said.

The app, which Quadrant 2 said is "free to the other 99 percent," can also be used for other purposes involving a repeated text message, such as a daily carpool text, CNET said.
