GAINESVILLE, Fla., Oct. 5 (UPI) -- Police in Florida said a suspected burglar who lost his shorts while fleeing officers was arrested after being bitten by a K9 dog.

The Gainesville Police Department said Officer Ryan Foster responded to a burglar alarm at the Florida Bookstore at 11:55 p.m. Monday and spotted Travis William Pavlovski, 26, who was dressed only in a pair of shorts and tennis shoes, allegedly fleeing the back of the store with an armload of Florida Gators apparel, The Gainesville Sun reported Wednesday.

Pavlovski allegedly threw the goods at Foster and attempted to flee over a fence, losing his shorts when the officer grabbed him by the garment, police said.

Witnesses told police a short time later they spotted a naked man going through clothes from a dryer in a building's laundry facility. The officers found Pavlovski, who fought with the officers before being bitten by Argos, a police K9.

Pavlovski was treated for the bite and booked into the Alchua County Jail on charges of grand theft involving property damage of more than $1,000, burglary, escape and resisting arrest with and without violence.
