MURRIERTA, Calif., Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Firefighters in California said they bent the bars of a metal gate to free a small dog that had been stuck for a couple hours.

Murrieta Fire Chief Matt Shobert said Capt. Casey McDonald and Firefighter Jake Wright responded at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday to Cole Creek Court on a report of a corgi wedged in a metal fence, The Riverside Press reported Tuesday.

"The canine was uninjured, but could not un-wedge himself," Shobert said.

Shobert said the firefighters used their hands to bend the metal bars until the dog could be removed.

"He was glad to get out of there," the chief said.
