WESTBY, Wis., Sept. 27 (UPI) -- A Wisconsin sewer operator said he and a police officer fished a small white dog out of raw sewage at the Westby sewage plant.

Operator Eric Miller said he called police when he spotted the dog wandering the area Thursday and the two scrambled to rescue the pooch when it jumped in the sewage treatment area, WKBT News8000.com, La Crosse, Wis., reported Monday.

"We took him in after we caught him and gave him a little warm bath and washed him off and sent him to the pound," Miller said.

It turned out the dog is female and Lisa Senior from the Vernon County Humane Society said she was dubbed Angellina.
